What Are Compression Springs?

  Compression springs are designed to store and release energy when they are compressed. When an external force presses the spring down, the spring generates resistance and returns to its original length when the load is removed.

  They are commonly used in valves, switches, tools, automotive components, appliances, and industrial assemblies that require controlled load, return force, buffering, or support under axial compression. Spring dimensions, load requirements, end types, and materials can be customized according to the application.

Material Selection for Compression Springs

  Material selection depends on load requirements, spring rate, fatigue life, corrosion resistance, working environment, and cost considerations. Common materials include stainless steel, music wire, carbon steel, copper wire, iron wire, aluminum wire, and alloy spring steel.

 

  For outdoor, humid, or corrosion-sensitive applications, stainless steel or suitable surface treatment may be recommended. For applications requiring repeated compression, stable force, or higher durability, material performance and fatigue resistance should be considered during the design stage.

Machine Setup & Production

  After the drawing, sample, or technical specification is confirmed, our technicians set up the coiling equipment according to wire diameter, outer diameter, inner diameter, free length, coil count, pitch, end type, and load requirements.

  During production, machine settings are adjusted to maintain consistent spring dimensions, stable pitch, and reliable load performance. For custom compression springs, experienced setup is important because small changes in coil count, free length, or end type can affect spring rate, solid height, and assembly performance.

Quality Inspection & Packing

  Finished compression springs are inspected for key dimensions, wire diameter, outer diameter, free length, solid height, coil count, surface condition, and batch consistency. For functional projects, load testing or sample approval can be arranged before mass production to confirm spring force, compression travel, and assembly performance.

  After inspection, products are packed according to export and delivery requirements. Proper packing helps protect spring shape, surface finish, and product quality during storage and transportation.
